Hello
Music is meant to be shared and experienced. People always tell me how lucky I am to have known at such a young age that I wanted to pursue music. Especially for an introvert like me, music gave me space for expression, creativity, connection and community. I want my students to experience joy in music like I have - and to instill a lifelong love for music while helping them grow musically. ~Jean Bay
My Musical Journey
I began my study of music at an early age in New Westminster. As a young child, I'd often make up my own songs, sing in church, and play the piano by ear. I knew I wanted to pursue music even more after my high school graduation at NWSS. I worked as a student music tutor at Douglas College while completing the Basic Musicianship Certificate and Transfer program. I graduated with the Contemporary Music & Technology Advanced Diploma majoring in Performance (piano), Composition, and Songwriting from Selkirk College. From there, I moved to Tennessee and completed my Bachelor of Music Education Degree majoring in Voice (Magna Cum Laude) from Southern Adventist University. In California, I worked for four years as a K-12 music teacher. My music program included general music classes, strings club, ukulele, band and choir. After getting married, I moved back to New Westminster and taught as a K-12 music teacher in two independent schools in the lower mainland. I left the classroom in March 2021 when I had my twin girls. Now, I am starting a music studio in my home to continue sharing my love for music with others.
